The butterfly does not overwinter in Denmark, but arrives in early summer from North Africa and the Middle East.

The number of this butterflies in Denmark varies considerably from year to year. Most are seen in the late summer when the new generation is hatched. It seems, that it every ten years, occur particularly abundantly.
